Mantis BS1 Floor Lamp
Description
Emblematic of the Mantis collection, BS1 illustrates Bernard Schottlander's soaring concept of lighting, with a clever system of counterweights combined with delicate but strong flexible metal bars. The floor lamp's sculptural shade is also a talisman of the collection, with its identifiable helix shape in spun aluminum. An admirer of Alexander Calder's famed mobiles, the German-born designer-engineer-metalsmith first created his timeless series of lamps in 1951 after resettling in London.
